Why VPX?
Visual Pinball X is the gold standard for virtual pinball simulation. The physics engine has gotten so good that experienced pinball players can't always tell the difference (especially with haptic feedback). Here are my current top 10 tables.
10. Scared Stiff (Bally, 1996)
A campy Elvira-themed table with great flow and fun callouts. The "Stiff-O-Meter" is one of the most entertaining features in any pinball table.
9. Monster Bash (Williams, 1998)
Rock out with classic movie monsters. The music and sound design in this recreation are absolutely spot-on. Great multiball action.
8. The Getaway: High Speed II (Williams, 1992)
A car-chase themed table with a supercharger ball accelerator. The VPX version nails the magnetic ball diverter perfectly.
7. Cirqus Voltaire (Bally, 1997)
The ringmaster taunts you throughout. Great table with amazing ramp shots and an unforgettable theme.
6. Theatre of Magic (Bally, 1995)
Magic tricks, illusions, and smooth gameplay. The trunk multiball is incredibly satisfying on a virtual cab with solenoids.
5. No Good Gofers (Williams, 1997)
Two animatronic gophers that pop up and taunt you. Pure fun, and the VPX recreation captures every detail.
4. Twilight Zone (Bally, 1993)
Rod Serling's voice guides you through one of the most complex tables ever designed. The virtual recreations handles the ceramic pinball and magnetic effects beautifully.
3. Attack from Mars (Bally, 1995)
Destroy the Martian saucers! Simple premise, incredibly fun execution. One of the best tables for new players.
2. The Addams Family (Bally, 1992)
The best-selling pinball table of all time, and for good reason. Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston's voice work makes every session entertaining.
1. Medieval Madness (Williams, 1997)
The king of pinball tables. Castle destruction, trolls, and some of the best callouts in pinball history. The VPX version with updated graphics is a masterpiece.
Where to Get These Tables
The VPX community hosts tables on vpforums.org and VPUniverse. Most recreations come with detailed setup instructions. Pair them with PinUp Popper for the best frontend experience.
